Orchard Gardens public housing development opens.

(Nov.) Originally Orchard Park and sometimes called the Albany Street projects, it is located at 25 Ambrose Street. The development includes separate buildings for black and white residents. Subsequent occupants include Doris Bunte, Stephen Flemmi, and Jack Powers. The development is subsequently integrated and then substantially reduced and renovated in 1999.* (774)
